Watch now (5 min) | I’M THRILLED by the amount of coverage that my Nazi gold-hunting trip to Holland has received. Not only was it featured on page 3 of the Sunday Times, but I have also been interviewed by the BBC World Service and BBC World News TV. You can watch the TV interview above – apologies in advance for the ropey Zoom connection! And later today (Monday 9 Jan) at 20:30 GMT I’ll be joining James Holland and Al Murray on their
Fabulous fun! Guy's wide-eyed Romantic side, exposed on the BBC. I bet Lord Carrington got a bollocking from local Police as well.
I'd have amplified the angle that you dug ironically, as a skeptical, world-weary historian, tired of being asked to dig for Nazi gold-year-on-year, not as a looter, and that you'd have handed over finds to authorities ... wouldn't you? And a stern finger-wagging at the dangers both moral and physical of UXO and remains seems to be par for the course.
It was a highly amusing escapade , and yes the clip on You Tube is excellent . The one thing I had not considered was the possibility of hacking into undiscovered explosive devices !! Great stuff Walt

If you'd just called me from Folkestone, I could have set up an HQ tent, catering, LIDAR, and bribed the local constabulary* before you arrived.
*I'm not sure the terms of my post-Brexit residency permit allow this, but hey, nothing ventured…
This is just the kind of cheering up we need in a January where’s there’s simply too much bad news. Keep up the good work!
As I wrote elsewhere, thanks for bringing a smile to "blue Monday". The treasure is still out there...even if only in our dreams!
Next time...
A fun lark.
