Fabulous fun! Guy's wide-eyed Romantic side, exposed on the BBC. I bet Lord Carrington got a bollocking from local Police as well.

I'd have amplified the angle that you dug ironically, as a skeptical, world-weary historian, tired of being asked to dig for Nazi gold-year-on-year, not as a looter, and that you'd have handed over finds to authorities ... wouldn't you? And a stern finger-wagging at the dangers both moral and physical of UXO and remains seems to be par for the course.

If you'd just called me from Folkestone, I could have set up an HQ tent, catering, LIDAR, and bribed the local constabulary* before you arrived.

*I'm not sure the terms of my post-Brexit residency permit allow this, but hey, nothing ventured…

It was a highly amusing escapade , and yes the clip on You Tube is excellent . The one thing I had not considered was the possibility of hacking into undiscovered explosive devices !! Great stuff Walt
