Keeping the wire fencing up and then housing vulnerable people there will not make them feel remotely welcome. For many, depending on where they have come from hearing aircraft will only bring back horrific memories. Those with intelligence and feeling want these people to find a way to live in a community, but isolating them on an RAF base isn't the answer. The people who have come up with this plan are only interested in numbers, not people. I hope the community keeps the RAF base. Will definitely be signing the petition.

Top stuff Guy, thoroughly enjoyed your report though sad too knowing that Guy Gibson was at Scampton 80 years ago today before he took over officially on the 24th March 1943.

Let's hope our country finds its voice and manage to get Rishi and his clowns to see sense and save Scampton before our Heritage is lost forever.

I am bewildered that no one in HMG didn’t realise that this foolishness was going to throw a skip of slurry into an onshore turbine and spray it all over the country. They must have known. The only down side is the unwelcome, unsought views of the extreme right. I fear it’s a done deal as Sunak et al are completely tone deaf.

Awesome report Guy. Trouble with DIO is that they know thousands of service people live in worse accommodation than the proposed red brick buildings you refer to - and they’ve been empty ten years!
